Let's be honest
You've bought a candle you couldn't smell.
$54.95. Lit it. Sat there. Nothing.
You leaned over it to check it was still going. You told yourself it was subtle. Then you put it in the cupboard for a special occasion and never lit it again.
That candle wasn't subtle. It was $54.95 of wax.
Strong, or clean. You've been made to pick one.
The cheap one that actually fills a room is paraffin, and the fragrance in it is usually carrying phthalates. The clean one that costs $54.95 goes quiet the moment you light it. Natural wax doesn't give up its fragrance easily, so most brands settle for one or the other.
The strong one
Paraffin fills a room easily, which is why the cheap ones work. It's a petroleum by-product, and the fragrance in it usually carries phthalates.
The clean one
Natural wax, beautiful label, and silent once it's lit. Getting natural wax to actually fill a room takes work most brands skip.
So I fixed it.
Three things have to agree before a candle actually fills a room: the wax, the fragrance load and the wick. Get one wrong and she smells beautiful in the jar and does nothing lit. Getting all three right on clean wax is the part that takes the time, and it's the only part that matters once she's burning.
The Full Load Pour
Every Gertie carries the maximum fragrance the wax will hold. Not "premium oils". The most that will physically go in.
Edge-to-Edge Melt
HTP wicks, sized and burn-tested per candle so the whole surface melts. They curl as they burn, so no mushrooming and no black knot. Nothing tunnels, nothing goes in the bin.
Too Big To Save
Up to 3kg. Physically impossible to treat as an ornament, which is exactly why you'll actually use her.
What you'll notice
- You smell her from the hallway, not from above her.
- She's just as loud in hour four as she was in the first ten minutes.
- The wax melts corner to corner, so you burn all of what you paid for.
- She's still going weeks later, because there's a lot of her.
- People ask what it is. Every time.
The real cost of a candle you never light
We count cosy nights, not burn hours, because nobody times their evening. One cosy night is about two and a half hours, the kind where she's on while you wind down.
450g · 20 nights 1.2kg · 48 nights 2kg · 72 nights 3kg · 112 nights
A candle you can't smell costs you everything and gives you nothing, because you stop lighting it. That's the one in your cupboard, and it's the most expensive candle you own.
The one in your cupboard vs this one
The one you saved

What the girls say
The questions everyone asks
Will I actually be able to smell her?
Loudly. The Full Load Pour means she carries the most fragrance the wax will hold, and the wick is matched to release it. Shut the door for the first thirty minutes and she'll announce herself.
Why does she cost what she costs?
Because she's big and she actually performs. Getting clean wax to fill a room is the expensive part, and it's the part most brands skip.
Isn't this too big?
That's the point. A small candle in a big room is a whisper. And a candle this size is impossible to save for a special occasion, which is exactly why you'll actually use it.
Do I have to trim the wick?
You'll get the cleanest burn if you do, but our HTP wicks curl as they burn and largely trim themselves. No mushrooming, no black knot. If you forget, she'll cope.
Does she tunnel?
Not a chance. The wicks are sized and burn-tested to melt every inch. No wax wasted.
Will she give me a headache?
She's strong, not nasty. Phthalate-free oils, clean coconut-soy, no paraffin. If you're sensitive, start in a bigger room and crack a window.
The wax looks cloudy or pulled from the glass. Is she faulty?
Nope, that's her being real. Frosting and wet spots are normal in proper coconut-soy, it just means she's not packed with cheap fillers. It doesn't change the burn or the scent.
What if I don't like her?
Then I'll make it right. Email me and I'll help you find one you love, or refund you. Love her or your money back.
How fast will she arrive?
Dispatched in 2 to 3 business days, tracked the whole way. $9.95 flat anywhere in Australia, free once you hit $79.
Buy beautiful candles and then never light them?
Same. So I made one that's too big to save.
