Burning Qs?
G's Got You.

The Candle Itself

  • What's in a Gertie candle?
Only the good stuff. Premium coconut-soy wax, bold fragrance oils, and oversized energy.
  • How long does she burn?
From 20 cosy nights in the 450g up to 112 in the 3kg. I count cosy nights, not burn hours, because who's timing it.
  • What's a cosy night?
My cute way of counting burn time. One cosy night is roughly a 2.5-hour evening burn, the kind where she's on while you wind down. So a 450g gives you about 20 and the 3kg about 112. It's a guide, not a stopwatch, burn her longer and you'll get fewer, shorter and you'll get more. Trim the wick and let the wax pool to the edges each time and you'll get the most out of her.
  • What's "hot throw" and "cold throw"?
Candle-maker talk, but worth knowing. Cold is how she smells unlit in the jar. Hot is how she smells once she's lit and warmed up. Plenty of candles smell incredible cold and then do nothing when you light them, that's perfume in wax. I load mine so she's just as loud lit. A candle you can't smell burning is pointless.
  • Will she fill my whole room?
She doesn't do subtle. I build her to scent the whole space, not just hover politely over your bedside table.
  • Will I actually be able to smell her?
Loudly. Weak, can't-smell-it candles are my villain origin story. Her fragrance load is maxed so she fills the whole room, and she doesn't quit after the first hour like cheap paraffin ones, she holds all the way down. Shut the door for the first 30 minutes and she'll announce herself.
  • Do they tunnel?
Not a chance. My wicks are tested to melt every inch. No wax wasted.
  • Do your candles smoke?
Only if you forget to trim the wick. Otherwise she burns clean and classy.
  • The wax looks cloudy or pulled from the glass. Is she faulty?
Nope, that's her being real. Frosting and wet spots are normal in proper coconut-soy, it just means she's not packed with cheap fillers. It doesn't alter the burn or the scent.
  • She smells different lit vs in the jar?
Totally normal, that's the hot vs cold thing again. The jar sniff is just the teaser, her real personality comes out once she's lit and warmed up. Give her that first proper burn before you judge.
  • Can I reuse the jar?
Yes, flower vase, pen holder, snack bowl. Go wild.

What's Inside

  • Where do your fragrances come from?
I source globally and blend locally. Only the finest oils make it into the lineup.
  • Are your scents unique?
One-of-a-kind, like your ex wishes they were.
  • Are they safe?
Yes. Non-toxic, phthalate-free, and poured with care in Australia.
  • Will she give me a headache?
She's strong, not nasty. Phthalate-free oils, clean coconut-soy, no toxic junk. If you're sensitive, start in a bigger room and crack a window. If a scent's too much for you, tell me and I'll help you find your match.
  • Do you test on animals?
Absolutely not. Just humans who are now obsessed.

Gertie vs. The Others

  • Why Gertie over the rest?
They're cute. I'm iconic. Bigger, bolder, and unapologetically different.
  • Are you fancy?
I'm fun, not fussy. Big scent, big personality, zero snob energy.
  • Why does she cost what she costs?
Because she's big and she actually performs. Cheap candles skimp on fragrance oil, mine's loaded, so she fills a room instead of just looking pretty. Clean coconut-soy and up to 112 cosy nights. Work out the cost per night and she's the bargain.
  • Why do people switch to Gertie?
Because they want candles that actually smell, last, and look hot on the shelf.

Getting Her to You

  • Where do you ship?
Australia-wide for now, with global domination pending.
  • How fast is shipping?
Fast. I dispatch within 2 to 3 business days, and if you're the impatient type (same), you'll see express options at checkout.
  • What if she arrives soft in the heat?
Aussie summers are brutal, I know. If she turns up a little soft, sit her somewhere cool and flat for a few hours and she'll set firm again, good as new. If she's actually damaged, send me a photo and I'll sort it.
  • How are they packed?
Like they're fragile, fabulous, and headed to a Vogue shoot.
  • Can I track my order?
Yep. I'll keep you in the loop the whole way.

Returns, No Stress.

  • Changed your mind?
You've got 30 days from delivery to return or swap her, as long as she's unused, unburnt, wrapping intact and in her original packaging.
  • She arrived damaged or faulty?
Email me within 7 days with your order number and a quick photo of the damage and the packaging. I'll sort a free replacement, a full refund, or store credit, your pick.
  • Who pays return shipping?
If I got it wrong or she arrived damaged, that's on me. If it's a change of mind, you cover the return postage.
  • How do I start a return?
Email me at lets_chat@gertie.com.au with your order number and reason. Once I approve it, pop her back in her original packaging and send her back with tracking.
  • How long until my refund?
Once she's back with me and checked, I'll refund your original payment method, usually within a few days.
  • Anything I can't return?
Sale items, gift cards and custom candles are final sale. And your rights under Australian Consumer Law always apply, no matter what.
